Position Descriptions
Desk Receptionist
Desk Receptionists are responsible for monitoring the card swipe access at residence hall front desks. The DR checks identification, registers students and their guests in the Front Desk Software system, and acts as a friendly campus resource for students, their guests, and the university community. DRs enforce the DePaul Housing Services Guest Pass Policy, assist in emergency response situations, and assist with many other Housing Services related tasks. Front desks are staffed by trained student desk receptionists between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 12 a.m. and professional security attendants from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m.
The Department of Housing Services is always accepting resumes and cover letters from those interested in becoming a Desk Receptionist. The DR position has become quite popular amongst students seeking employment. This means that positions may not always be available, but all resumes/cover letters are kept on file for potential employment should positions become available. Summer Conference Staff
The Department of Housing Services will be hiring summer conference staff in April 2010.
Guest Service Assistant (GSA)
The GSA is a part-time student staff member with responsibilities of assisting in the day-to-day operations of the summer conference program. The GSA’s primary responsibilities include room preparation, check-in and check-out of conference groups, and afterhours duty responsibility. Customer service and housing experience preferred. Five GSAs are needed; compensation for this position is housing plus a $750 stipend.
Customer Service Assistant (CSA)
The customer service assistant is a part-time student staff member that has responsibilities for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the summer conference program. The CSA’s primary responsibility is to work the front desk of the summer conference residence hall and to aid in check-in and check-out of conference groups. Students with DePaul desk receptionist experience are encouraged to apply for this part-time summer position. Eight CSAs are needed; compensation for this position is housing plus a $250 stipend.
Facilities Assistant
Reporting to the Facility Residence Directors, the Facilities Assistant (FA) is a part-time student staff member in the Department of Housing Services. FAs work in a housing area and have day-to-day facility responsibilities for identifying and responding to facility issues and projects. FAs are also responsible for assisting in large-scale Housing Services projects such as residence hall openings, closings, and quarterly facility inspections. The FA is a live-in position which requires routine duty pager coverage in order to respond to issues and emergencies after-hours and on weekends.
Position Qualifications
All applicants must be full-time undergraduate DePaul student. Previous facility and/or housing experience preferred.
