Building and Room Assignments

Assignments are processed by the order the Housing Agreement was completed and depending on what spaces are still available at the time the Agreement is processed. A student ranks his or her preferences of building and room type. Students are encouraged to rank all spaces. Both room and building preferences are taken into consideration but a specific request is not guaranteed. While students are given the opportunity to rank specific buildings and room types on the Housing Agreement, such request cannot always be accommodated. Students can be assigned to any room type, regardless of whether or not it was ranked on the Agreement. The Department of Housing Services retains the right to place students in any available space.

Roommate Assignments

Roommates are randomly assigned through our housing software, based on the order that the Housing Agreement was received and lifestyle preferences. When roommates are mutually requested, our staff attempts to make this accommodation, based on availability. In the near future Housing Services is exploring new technology to pair roommate(s) together; to better accommodate students’ needs and allow for a more cohesive living environment.
