STAFF PROFILES


Rick Moreci

Director of Housing Services

Rick is in his 10th year of administration at DePaul University. In his current role as Director of Housing Services, he oversees the Housing Services department, which encompasses housing facilities, assignments, operations, and marketing. As Director he is involved in the planning at DePaul, whether it be for procedures, campus master planning, educational opportunities, or campus safety. He affirms that his job is very fulfilling, especially when he sees how his talented staff creates a positive experience for all of DePaul’s residential students. In addition to his role as Director, he sits on several university-wide committees, all of which address the welfare of DePaul students.

Rick’s academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree in deafness counseling rehabilitation from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Loyola University Chicago. In his spare time Rick enjoys catching up on his favorite television shows, staying healthy and fit through exercise and working out, and listening to a variety of music in his home, car, or office.

Jen Fox

Associate Director of Operations

Jen Fox has been a professional staff member at Housing Services since November 2003. As Associate Director of Operations, she oversees both housing assignments and marketing. Her role is focused on providing exceptional customer service to our students and parents, and she focuses on implementing procedures in her area that are consistent and fair. She enjoys collaborating with other departments to ensure that students are given the best experience at DePaul possible. This September, Jen was awarded the Kenneth A. McHugh Quality Service Award during DePaul’s Convocation. Jen holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Western Illinois University.

Diana Flores

Administrative Assistant

Diana’s role as Housing Services’ Administrative Assistant is an essential part of our office operation, but she also serves as our “residential historian” of all departmental and university events including: working in all past Housing Office locations, surviving the “great DePaul flood”, witnessing the fall of Sheffield Hall and the rise of University Hall (she still has the hard hat to prove she was at that groundbreaking ceremony), bidding for and winning former DePaul President Richardson’s Oldsmobile when he went off to teach in Africa, knowing who ran the legendary “Sliders Contests” in the 1970s, and attending the Cabaret Night Talent shows wherein RAs performed in their skivvies a la Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Jennifer Hart

Assistant Director

Jen began her career in DePaul’s campus housing in 2001 working for our “sister department” Residential Education. She made the transition to Housing Services in June 2004. As Assistant Director for Housing Services, she has oversight for the operations of the residence halls, including front desks, the annual opening and closing of the buildings, summer conferences, and housing facilities hall staff. Her role includes being project manager for furniture and flooring replacements and small scale building renovations of our halls. She enjoys that housing projects change depending on the season or quarter, and the influx of first-year students each year always provides a new energy.

Jen also contributes to DePaul as an adjunct faculty member for the Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse department, where she taught first-year writing courses as well as an Explore Chicago course titled “Haunted Chicago.”

Jen’s academic achievements include a B.A. in English, minor in Theatre Studies, and a M.A. in Writing with a concentration in Literary Writing. She hopes to someday earn a PhD and assume a full-time university teaching role, own a bookstore/coffee house, and retire to a far-flung locale like Tuscany, Italy.

Victoria Van Kirk

Housing Facility Manager

Victoria began her career at DePaul Housing Services in 2005, now as Housing Facilities Manager she supervises and supports the three Facility Residence Directors who in turn supervise and support a student staff of approximately 120 employees. Her role involves the coordination of facility project work surrounding the quality of the DePaul resident experience from a health and safety perspective. Campus fire prevention and fire safety are important parts of her role within Housing Services. Elements of her job she appreciates include daily interactions with students, employee training, campus fire safety education, and working in the City of Chicago.

Victoria’s academic achievements are graduating from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and holding a M.S. Degree in English Studies (Technical Writing / Professional Writing) from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. Her life aspirations are to travel around the world, write a novel, and always have a connection with college students and higher education.

Nathan Veeneman

Facility Residence Director, East Area

Nathan Veeneman has been in his role as East Area Facility Residence Director since May 2009. Nathan co-supervises all of the Facilities Assistants and Desk Receptions on campus. He also manages the East Area Office, coordinates facility inspections, enforces health and safety standards, and responds to facility-related emergencies. Nathan holds an A.A.S. in Architectural Technology and a B.S. in Facility Management from Ferris State University.

Michelle Krejci

Facility Residence Director, Central Area

Michelle Krejci has served as the Central Area Facilities Residence Director since July 2009. Michelle is responsible for the facility management and administration of the Central Area of campus, and co-supervises the Desk Receptionists who monitor the front desk. Michelle holds a B.A. in religious studies from DePaul, a Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Sheffield, England and is pursuing a PhD in Biblical Studies through the University of Sheffield, England.

Brian Barker

Facility Residence Director, West Area

Brian has served as West Area Facility Residence Director since 2008. As a residence hall staff member he is responsible for the health and safety of the residence halls in the West side of the Lincoln Park Campus. Brian facilitates scheduling, payroll, and human resource concerns for over 100 student desk receptionists. He appreciates interacting with his student workers and balancing many roles including learning from, and teaching the students.

As a part-time graduate student pursuing a M.A. dual degree in Multicultural Communication and Organizational Communication, Brian has also found time to act as the founding advisor to DePaul’s chapter or NSMH (National Society of Minorities in Hospitality), and a member of DePaul University’s Black Leadership Coalition. Among his DePaul commitments, he takes time to enjoy anything related to football: college and professional. Brian aspires to one day attain a PhD, and “help the underprivileged in various capacities around the world.”

Sarah Peters

Housing Assignments Coordinator

Sarah Peters has been a part of the Housing Services’ team since 2005, first as a student worker, and now as one of the two Housing Assignment Coordinators. She processes all Housing Agreements and assignment forms, as well as responding to questions and concerns from students and their parents.

She received her B.A. in Communication and Spanish from DePaul, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Education. During her free time, Sarah enjoys photography and traveling.

Willie Sanders

Manager of Housing Technology

Since February 2009, Willie Sanders has been the Manager of Housing Technology for Housing Services. Managing and implementing projects related to essential departmental technology. He serves as a liaison between Housing Services and DePaul Information Services, with responsibilities for various aspects of our computer operating applications. He truly enjoys being able to make a difference in the lives of DePaul students, whether it’s improving existing technology or answering housing related questions.

Willie holds a B.S. in Technology: Computer Systems and a M.S in Technology: Training and Development from Illinois State University. When he’s not busy tackling new technology programs he spends his spare time bowling and being an avid car enthusiast.

Meredith Lynch

Manager, Marketing and Communications

Meredith has executed Housing Services’ marketing initiatives since 2006. As Manager, Marketing and Communications, Meredith creates and implements a variety of communication initiatives, particularly prospective student recruitment to campus housing and resident communications. She is involved in Housing Services’ Web site, newsletters, publications, and representing Housing Services at Admission and Orientation events. Meredith experiences fulfillment in her role when meeting new residents and parents, and proposing creative approaches to communicating to DePaul students.

Meredith holds a B.A. in English, minor in Business Studies from Providence College, a Certificate of Editing from The University of Chicago, and is currently pursing a M.S. in Public Services at DePaul.

Martise Cooks

Lead Marketing and Communications Assistant

Martise has worked in his role as Lead Marketing and Communications Assistant, since April 2007. He supports and implements all marketing initiatives to communicate to our residential students. In addition to his role in Housing Services, he is the Co-Advisor to the DePaul Residence Hall Council (RHC) serving as a liaison between the members of RHC and Housing Services. He mentors the RHC student members’ programming and governing the halls of the Lincoln Park Campus. With both responsibilities he enjoys the challenge of keeping up with DePaul students’ trends and always being on the go. His lifetime goal is “to have an impact on someone’s life in some shape or form.”

Martise will soon join the ranks of the “Double Demons;” he holds a B.A. in Art History & Design at DePaul, and is currently pursuing an M.Ed in College Student Development.
